Established in 1911, St. Joseph's is the primary hub for all medical service in the City. It is located at the edge of the commercial district of downtown, just at the point where the neighborhood begins to decline into the Gardens. The building has been expanded, remodeled, and rebuilt dozens of times over the decades; its architecture encompasses cutting-edge, modern clinical buildings connected to 90-year-old wings where the original, art-nouveau decorations are still intact. Some wings, such as the Our Lady of Fate Polio Ward, have been abandoned altogether, and remain empty to this day.
Though dozens of people die in St. Joseph's trauma and critical care wards every year, there have been relatively few hauntings reported. The ghosts of the City seem to have a sort of "gentleman's agreement" regarding the hospital, and tend to stay away from it.
