The largest Catholic church in the City, located downtown. St. James' was constructed in the 1930s and, apart from an architectural restoration project in 1997, has stood unchanged throughout the decades since.
In 1985, noted businessman and mafioso Giancarlo Santino was gunned down in the nave of the church, along with his wife and two daughters. Two bodyguards and several innocent bystanders were also killed in the crossfire. The triggerman, a heavily tattooed individual by the name of "Rook" escaped (although he was eventually captured and convicted for unrelated crimes). This incident was considered a blot on the church's reputation for several years.
Despite this gruesome episode in its past, there has never been any ghostly activity witnessed in St. James, until very recently.
