Emile Markham was an author of popular, jingoistic, techno-thrillers novels until his writing career was cut short by a gardening accident that nearly severed his right hand. Markham was approached by Walter Hanley during the period when Orpheus Group was under the administrative control of Tad Eccles, and soon became embroiled in Hanley's attempts to secretly undermine Eccles' authority and return Orpheus to its former management.
Markham was a reclusive Agent, living alone in a sprawling, ghost-haunted house where he practiced his other great passion, gardening exotic plants. The constant conspiracies and betrayals that marked his tenure took their toll on his peace of mind, however, and during the shake-up that accompanied the ousting of Tad Eccles, Emile left the company. His current status is unknown.
