An eclectic neighborhood adjacent to the Gardens, though not nearly so destitute. Eastside is known as an "artist's district." It contains numerous clubs and galleries, and is a popular spot for indie bands, struggling painters, and slumming university students.
Although originally a lower-income neighborhood, Eastside has become increasingly attractive to wealthy students and young professionals. This has created a certain amount of tension, as many long-time residents blame the newcomers for driving up rent and driving out the local mom-and-pop stores in favor of trendy franchises such as Starbucks. According to the old-timers, the unique "feel" of Eastside is slowly eroding away.
Also of pressing concern was the influx of pigment trade into Eastside, as dealers sought out wealthy customers who were curious but not willing to venture into the Gardens to buy drugs. Street crime rose sharply for several months, and one neighborhood pub was burned down by drug gangs. However, after Orpheus Group effectively ended the pigment trade in the City, Eastside quickly returned to normal.
