Church of the Children of the Embracing Mother

Symbol used by the Church of the Children of the Embracing Mother on pamphlets and other promotional materials.A pigment cult that grew to become a full-blown established church. During the height of its activity, the congregation met in a high school auditorium in one of the less run-down districts at the edge of the Gardens.

Outwardly, the Church of the Children of the Embracing Mother taught a non-denominational doctrine of inclusion and fellowship. They sponsored neighborhood improvement programs, where volunteers from the congregation picked up litter, painted and refurbished local houses and businesses, and organized activities for underprivileged youth. Members were encouraged to seek out those who had not "heard the message" and bring them to worship services. Worship included group singing, prayers to the "All Embracing Mother," and inspirational sermons from the cult's minister, Elison Daley. Most services also included "communion," in which members swallowed a quick-dissolving tablet of pigment with water. The pigment was supplied by shipping billionaire Lamont Christensen, who was also a member.

After Orpheus Group shut down pigment distribution throughout the City, the church ceased most of its public activity. However, the congregation resurfaced as part of a "spiritual demonstration" staged on the main lawn of Babbitt Plaza. Led by Daley, the cultists fasted and chanted for several weeks. When the ritual finally managed to cause a large-scale intrusion from the underworld, every single member of the cult died of a sudden, massive brain hemorrhage.
