Cheryl Banning

NextWorld Operative Cheryl BanningField Operative for NextWorld Enterprises. She was present at the Elsevier School massacre, and worked alongside Orpheus Agents to escape. Although her partner was killed, the Agents saved Banning's life.

During a violent clash between NextWorld and Orpheus Group, Banning provided Orpheus Agents with the whereabouts of a secret laboratory where Kate Hennisson was being held captive. Although she gave the information freely (as a gesture of gratitude for the Agents' help in the Elsevier incident), Banning made it clear that she was still loyal to her employers.

In another incident, Banning was involved in a revenge plot by Stephen Vacek against Orpheus Group. Instead of springing the trap, however, she turned on her employer and gunned him down in cold blood, and let the Orpheus Agents go.

Banning's official employment at NextWorld came to an end when Bishop began systematically hunting down and liquidating everyone associated with the company. In a last-ditch effort to save herself and her remaining team members, Banning contacted Orpheus Group in an unorthodox way and joined forces with them to destroy Bishop's top lieutenant, Rook.

When the remnants of Orpheus Group decided to enter the true underworld to eliminate the plague of spectres at its source, Banning volunteered to accompany the team. Although she possessed no natural projecting ability, she was able to project via a deliberate overdose of pigment. She died in the Wasteland, rescuing Agent Lane from a swarm of spectres at the ruins of the Iron City.
