Autumnville Mall was noe of the most successful retail centers in the central City until the early 90s, when an overpass was built to extend Highway 405 out to the east suburbs. For two years, construction made access to the mall nearly impossible; once the overpass was finished, easy access to suburban bulk outlet malls effectively drove Autumnville out of business. The property has changed hands several times over the years, but no investor has ever succeeded in revitalizing the area. To this day the building remains empty; weeds grow in the parking lot, and plywood covers the outer doors.
Rumors that Autumnville's original investors committed suicide by leaping off the overpass onto the mall rooftop 100 feet below were popular for many years, but have never been confirmed.
